The Faculty of Geology and Geography will reach its 60th anniversary in 2023. To celebrate this creation, the evolution of the faculty over the last 60 years, and its contemporary and future significance, we are organizing an extraordinary conference, gathering geographers from all the countries.

We are pleased to invite you to the International conference “Advances in geosciences for smart transformation”, which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2023, between 4 and 7 October. The conference under the theme of “Advances in geosciences for smart transformation” will provide an important channel for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among researchers.

This event is an occasion to gather scientific talents from all over the world and to further cultivate dialogue between geographies and societies in the context of the development of new technologies and transformation towards smart regions and societies.

Invitation

Our world faces many common natural, economic, and societal challenges that can only be dealt with through global action, understanding and sharing. The theme of our conference will focus on the central role that geography plays in developing transformation through the regions and the world.

Geography is a science powerfully suited to address the challenges of the XXI century. Now, more than ever, this geographic thinking is urgent as young people experience a global disruption in real-time. Geography is a skill and vision that opens the door for people to better understand the interconnected world around them.

Geography of 21st century faces many challenges due to the development of information, technologies which change the ways in which economic, social and public systems function every single day.
